President Donald Trump congratulates 25 years of Vietnam-US relations
(Dan Tri) – President Donald Trump sent a letter to General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong congratulating 25 years of Vietnam-US relations and pledging to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc and Senior Director for Asia, National Security Council Allison Hooker exchanged congratulatory letters from General Secretary, President Nguyen Phu Trong and President Donald Trump.
On the afternoon of July 10, 2020 at the headquarters of the US Department of State, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc attended an intimate meeting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the US led by Assistant Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
Also attending the meeting on the US side were Permanent Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Atul Keshap, Senior Director of the National Security Council Allison Hooker, Southeast Asia Director of the National Security Council Julie Turner, Director of the National Security Council Program.
`Further strengthen and expand bilateral relations`
Officials from the two countries attended the anniversary meeting at the US State Department headquarters on July 10.
During the meeting, Deputy Secretary of State for Politics David Hale came to convey congratulations from the US Government and people on the occasion of this meaningful event in the relationship between the two countries.

At the celebration, Assistant Secretary of State Stilwell affirmed that US policy attaches importance to promoting the Comprehensive Partnership with Vietnam and will continue to coordinate with Vietnam to contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and cooperation.
The Assistant Secretary of State shared his impressions with Vietnam’s dynamic development, the process and results of the Government and people of Vietnam responding to the Covid-19 epidemic and gradually opening the economy.
For his part, Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc thanked the US Department of State for organizing a very meaningful anniversary meeting, marking 25 years of Vietnam and the US building trust and developing relations from two former enemies.

A White House statement congratulated Vietnam on its excellent performance as Chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations this year, and was pleased to announce that the United States and Vietnam had reached an agreement to send volunteers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
