This Chinese SUV model may be assembled in Vietnam, `competing` with the Corolla Cross

(Dan Tri) – Haval Jolion can be considered a direct competitor of Toyota Corolla Cross, but the selling price is expected to be as cheap as a B-class SUV.

Sales consultants all received deposits from Haval Jolion after Haval Vietnam representative confirmed that the company will introduce 2 new car models in 2024, including Tank 300 and Jolion.

Notably, the sales consultant said that pure gasoline cars will be assembled domestically.

In Thailand, Jolion has a selling price between 799,000-999,000 baht (equivalent to 550-685 million VND) depending on the version.

Haval Jolion has a wheelbase of 2,700mm, equal to C-class SUV models such as Mazda CX-5 or Hyundai Tucson.

The exterior of Jolion is quite different from the H6 HEV model that was launched in Vietnam.

Jolion’s cabin has many similarities with the H6.

Some notable amenities include: 2-zone automatic air conditioning with rear air vent, knob-shaped gear lever, electronic handbrake with automatic brake hold.

In terms of performance, the purely gasoline version of Haval Jolion will use a turbocharger, 1.5L capacity, creating a maximum capacity of 147 horsepower and maximum torque of 220Nm.

The hybrid variant has a powertrain consisting of a 1.5L turbocharged engine combined with an electric motor, producing 190 horsepower and 375Nm.

Jolion’s ADAS active safety package is expected not to be cut when returning to Vietnam.

If distributed at a price range of 650-750 million VND, Haval Jolion will not have too many price advantages compared to B-size crossover models. Hyundai Creta, the best-selling B-size high-riding car model of 2023 in our country,

Direct competitors such as Corolla Cross are being distributed for 760-955 million VND.

Haval is a sub-brand under Great Wall Motor Group (Great Wall Motor – GWM).

Due to the new brand factor and high selling price, because there is only a hybrid version, Haval H6 Hybrid has difficulty competing with Japanese and Korean competitors, regularly being reduced by up to 234 million VND at dealers.

On January 16, Haval Vietnam adjusted the suggested retail price for this model for the first time, reducing it by 110 million VND to 986 million VND.
