Since mid-1974, police in the Pacific Northwest region (USA) have been troubled by a series of kidnappings of female college students stretching from Washington state to Oregon.

At that time, the police received many reports about Ted but never considered him a suspect.

Ted was born in Vermont without a father.

Ted and his mother were often beaten by their grandfather so much that they had to move to another place to live when he was only 5 years old.

In 1965, Ted graduated from high school and entered the University of Puget Sound.

After that, Ted continued to target other female students.

While working at the Washington State Department of Emergency Services, Ted met Carole Ann Boone, a woman who had been on two boats and had two children, and fell in love with her.

After being accepted to law school in Utah, Ted moved to Salt Lake City.

In August 1975, Salt Lake police suddenly asked Ted to stop the car for inspection.

While waiting for the police to fully investigate the incident, Ted escaped from prison twice.

With too much pride, Ted decided not to rely on a lawyer but instead, he defended himself.
