(Dan Tri) – The Myanmar military government suddenly released more than 600 protesters in the context of Western countries heavily imposing sanctions on the country’s military.

Channel News Asia quoted witnesses as saying that on the morning of March 24, buses filled with prisoners took turns leaving Insein prison in Yangon city of Myanmar.

A lawyer present outside the prison said that about 15 cars carrying prisoners left Insein, `all of them were arrested before in connection with the protests`.

Local media published images showing released protesters sitting in cars and raising three fingers – a symbol of opposition to the military government.

In another related development, the trial of democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi was announced to be postponed until April 1.

In Myanmar’s major cities, the protest movement demanding the military government release Ms. Suu Kyi and officials of the democratic government has not stopped.

Many businesses and establishments in Yangon have closed, the roads are sparse with people and vehicles.

The Myanmar military government has not yet commented on these new developments.

Meanwhile, many countries have called on the Myanmar military to release democratic officials, stop violent actions against protesters and restore democracy in this Southeast Asian country.
