(Dan Tri) – Founded in 1831, the Garrick Club, originally only for elite and luxurious men, has long protected its membership list very strictly before being involved in a leak scandal this month.

On London’s famous Covent Garden street, there’s an imposing palace-style building that stands apart from the burger joints and rows of bright neon lights of the British capital’s theater district.

Here is the Garrick Club, one of the most unique clubs in the city.

And of course, Garrick has not admitted female members for a long time, but women are only allowed to be guests of honor.

After the Guardian newspaper published a new attention-grabbing article about Garrick’s `men only` policy, naming and criticizing a number of members in the suddenly leaked membership list, two senior officials of

Just days earlier, while answering a Congressional hearing, Mr. Case had defended his membership at Garrick by saying he was trying to reform an `antediluvian` institution from

Meanwhile, Mr. Moore’s club membership also seems to be at odds with his efforts to bring more racial and gender diversity to the British spy agency (MI6).

Now the club’s 1,300 members are debating Garrick’s future.

`The Garrick Club has full authority to decide who is a member. That said, it is inexcusable for any social club today not to have women as members,` said Mr.

Dame Jude Kelly, a former theater director who now runs a women’s charity, said that excluding women from Garrick’s membership had deprived them of access to the elite, which creates

Other clubs such as White’s, Boodle’s, Beefsteak Club and Savile Club are also for men only.

According to the leaked list, Garrick’s members include famous actors, artists, fashion designers, reporters and even British Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden.

The above names make the controversy even more heated and attractive, especially because many of them appear to be liberals with sympathetic views and would strongly oppose any type of policy.

Some members of the club are among those who have publicly supported accepting female members.

The last time members voted on this question was in 2015, with 50.5% in favor of admitting female members.

Mr. Jonathan Sumption, lawyer and former Supreme Court judge, said he supported accepting female members, but added that opponents had the right to express their views.

Mr. Jenkins, the columnist, refuted some false information that Garrick was a place where men gathered to plot against women.

The only room not reserved for women is the members’ lounge, where men gather after dinner.

Still, Garrick is different from White’s, an even more exclusive club for men in St.
