She called out to her child from under the rubble but heard no response.

Hundreds of Israelis still in a state of `shock` went to the police station on October 8, hoping to get news about the fate of loved ones who disappeared after Hamas launched an unprecedented attack.

Although Israel has long been accustomed to war, it was still surprised by attacks from many directions by Hamas gunmen, killing hundreds of people.

Israelis are trying to find clues from relatives to find out whether they were killed or possibly held hostage by Hamas, or are still seeking shelter in the area where Israel and Hamas fought.

An Israeli mother submitted a DNA sample and gave authorities a comb containing her son’s hair.

`The last time we heard from him was when he called from the car, saying he was trying to escape and there were bullets flying at him. I’m trying to find out what happened,` she said.

Outside the police station, a man was praying with a cleric while his fiancee filled out a form to find her missing brother.

Meanwhile, Yoni Asher said his wife was visiting her mother in the Nir Oz area that Israel controls near the Gaza Strip when Hamas attacked.

He used a location device to find his wife’s phone and discovered it was located in Khan Younis, Gaza Strip.

`My two little girls, they’re just kids, they’re not even 5 years old and 3 years old… I don’t know how they were detained. I don’t know what happened to them
